Russ Houston—With over 25 years experience in commercial and small format printing, Russ has just about done it all. It’s that variety of experience and skills that enable him to solve any print challenge you can throw at him and literally do it with a smile on his face. "It was a no-brainer decision for Shelly and I to purchase Rising Graphics in 2007. Since we've both been in printing (for more years than I'd like to admit) and since Shelly had worked for all the print shops in this location it was a perfect fit. One of the best things about owning the shop is finally living AND working in Evergreen. With less than a mile communte to work I have more time to be involved in the community and enjoy getting to know our customers in and out of the shop." When Russ has some down time he's an avid reader and during basketball season he's a bit obsessed with the Lakers.
Shelly Houston—Shelly brings a combination of award-winning design vision and expert pre-press skills to the table. She has a B.A. in Graphic Design from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. In her 25+ years in the industry, Shelly has learned to combine analytical thinking skills with creative talent to produce work that gets results and looks great doing it. You’ve seen many examples of her work around Evergreen. “I love the diversity of my projects and the hands on approach as a designer/owner. As an owner it’s fun (and often challenging) to be involved in every step of the process. It’s not out of the realm for me to pitch in to hand-fold a brochure I designed if we’re on a tight deadline (although I prefer to leave that to the experts!)." When she's not busy behind the computer, Shelly's busy designing jewelry and blogging for her other company studio@7199'.
Shelly and Russ have been residents of Evergreen since 1997 and can’t imagine living and raising their three children anywhere else. Russ is a Rotarian and serves on the Evergreen Chorale Board of Directors. Shelly was instrumental in starting up Higher Ground Youth Coffee House for mountain area teens. She served as a Director for them for many years and she and Russ continue to volunteer there on a regular basis. Both are also involved in other volunteer activities in the community and their church.
